Theories + Approaches
Whatever you’d like to spend your time with in therapy, I will always start with our relationship as client and therapist. It’s important to me that you feel known, safe, and genuinely cared for before I ever start participating in change. Positive evolution comes from the marriage of understanding and experience; in exploring your adaptations developed throughout life, we begin to understand how and why you show up in life the way you do. But knowledge alone is inadequate. We all need to experience the care we deserve, a different possibility, in order to alter our ways of being. This is what I aim to provide. And whether it’s the depths of your experiences or needing just to feel heard and your life, witnessed, my first priority is always going to be making this space feel like a home to you.
My approach integrates developmental and parts-based frameworks, drawing from neuroscience, attachment theory, and developmental psychology to help you understand how different parts of yourself emerged and why they show up the way they do today. I also incorporate polyvagal theory and other body-based approaches to support a re-bridging between self and body, a relationship often fractured through societal expectations, some religious tenants, and trauma. Through a mindful relationship to your experience of sensation, emotion, and the narratives shaping perspectives, you will expand your path toward relief and develop a capacity to withstand the tension that comes with change. We will explore how to do this through your relationship to self, nature, movement, passion, and relationships. I am here to be human with you, in all its messiness and beauty, and hope that in doing so, we can facilitate meaningful wellness in your life.
